V-Blog: Giving Yourself a Bravelle FSH Shot

Hey everyone!  I need to update on here badly, but for the time being I thought I'd share with you all the first of my new video series that I've started on Youtube.  The series is going to focus on different stages of a medicated cycle and walk couples through some of the more difficult "challenges" (such as giving yourself a sub-q fsh shot).

I have to give credit to Dr. S for giving me the idea at the infertility conference this weekend - seeing really is so much better than just reading and looking at step-by-step photos!  I'll post more about the conference, and where Mr. C and I are emotionally after the fact; but for now, enjoy the video (sorry, it all got a bit squatty when I compressed it - ugh!) and tell your friends who are needing encouragement about this subject to stop by and see that it CAN be done!

Love and Blessings,
*mandie*

  4. I think it's fabulous that you're doing a step by step visual demonstration of how to do this. Doing self injections can be very intimidating and for people like me that have a slight fear of needles, it was HORRIBLE to have to inject myself first for 2 years straight to the muscle which hurt like a mother! Then subcutaneously for 7 more years. The only plus I had is that they gave me an "Autoject" which would take the guess work out of injecting myself and I wouldn't have to see the syringe going inside my skin since the syringe would go inside this "thick pencil" type contraption. which was good for my psyche! Anyway chica, your reason for doing this is much more worthwhile than my reason for doing it was. Keep being the voice behind the "fertility meds", I'm sure you'll help many! :):) Great job! :)

  6. Thanks, Gisselle! We had a really fun time decorating this new place...it's really not even entirely done yet. Always lots to do!

I've heard the muscle shots hurt SO BAD. You are such a strong woman; be proud of yourself for enduring so much and still smiling! I just hope these videos will help those going through what I was going through. Nobody wants to talk about infertility, but I'm more than willing to put myself out there and give advice, encouragement, and (dream of dreams!) hope! :)

  7. Hi Mandie,

Thanks so much for posting this video!!! I just had my 1st Bravelle shot and I chickened out big time :(.
The nurse at my fertility clinic gave me a class 2 days ago but tonight I could not do it so my husband did it w/ no training and it hurt a LOT!!!. I'll try tomorrow with your method. Best of luck in your journey to motherhood!
